Waldorf Astoria Chengdu is the cornerstone of the in99 Plaza, in the center of the Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone and convenient to the New Century Global Center, the Metro Station, and Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.
The Waldorf Astoria entered a very crowded 5-Star market – with China’s rapid economic development, 5-Star hotels were popping up everywhere – almost every known brand in the world established one, two and in some cases several high-end hotels.
The competition to stand out from the crowd in such a competitive market, meant that the Waldorf Astoria Marketing team were looking for a way to make an impact, and get above the noise of the market.
One of Waldorf Astoria’s key selling points are the amazing rooms they provide to guests – the Presidential Suite is considered to be one of the best guest’s suites in the world – with 377 square meters of luxury space.
Styled with polished dark woods, Art Deco details and elements of Chengdu culture, the suite includes a master bedroom with a king-sized bed, a hot tub, his and her vanities and a large walk-in rain shower with Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries.
Other spaces include a guest king bedroom with a full bath, a private office, a dining room for ten, a kitchen and a spacious living area. Interconnecting option with a double queen bedroom is available.
Additionally, all guests’ rooms are 60 square meters and above, making this hotel a standard in luxury.
Digital Frontier sent a camera crew and filmed two of the rooms in full 360° – a King Deluxe Room and the Presidential Suite.
Every room including the corridor and access way were filmed and every segment of 360° footage was stitched into an integral whole.
Hot spots were added and on the regular room clickable menus were added – including being able to turn the lights to nighttime.
The integrated production was a fully scrollable journey through all the aspects of the guest’s accommodation and was put on the Waldorf Astoria website.

The integrated 360° footage provided a point-of-difference highlighting the hotels competitive advantage – giving the Waldorf Astoria an extremely helpful tool that allows them to show prospective guests the facilities in the room before booking.
It was important to be able to reflect the extremely high standard of luxury in the furniture and fittings, as well as the sumptuous facilities in the Waldorf Hotel Suites and the best way to reflect these is by creating an immersive and scrollable presentation that allows guests the ability of looking before buying.
